A continuous four-day public holiday has commenced across the country. In light of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election and the referendum, a general holiday has been declared for all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private offices/institutions. This holiday began today, Wednesday (February 11), and will continue until February 14.
For educational institutions, the break extends to five consecutive days due to the combination of election holidays and a religious festival. This period began today and will run until February 15. Specifically, the holidays for the 13th National Parliamentary Election are scheduled for February 11 and 12. These are followed by the regular weekly holidays on Friday, February 13, and Saturday, February 14. Furthermore, educational institutions will remain closed on February 15 in observance of Sri Sri Shivaratri Vrata, bringing the total duration to five days.
The parliamentary election and referendum are set to take place on February 12. To facilitate this, the government has declared a public holiday by executive order for both February 11 and the polling day, February 12. Additionally, a special holiday was declared on February 10 specifically for workers and employees in industrial areas.
