For the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, a set of guidelines has been issued to ensure a disciplined and festive voting environment for all voters. Each voter must arrive at their designated polling center between 7:30 AM and 4:30 PM on election day. However, those who join the queue before 4:00 PM will be allowed to cast their votes even if the official time expires. To maintain security within the polling centers, no bags other than small purses may be carried, and it is strictly prohibited to bring any flammable substances or weapons. While voters are permitted to carry mobile phones and take photos within the center, the use of mobile phones is strictly forbidden inside the secret booths designated for marking ballot papers. There are no specific dress code requirements; however, voters wearing a niqab/veil may be requested by a polling agent to briefly reveal their face once for identity verification. Although carrying an NID card is not mandatory, having it on hand can significantly simplify the voter identification process.
At the start of the voting process, the polling officer will verify the voter’s name and serial number and apply indelible ink to their finger. The voter will then be provided with two separate ballot papers: one for the parliamentary election and another for the referendum. Upon receiving the ballot papers, the voter must ensure that the official seal and the presiding officer’s signature are present on the back. Afterward, the voter must go into the secret booth and clearly mark their preferred candidate’s symbol using the provided rubber stamp. After marking, the ballot should be folded vertically so that the ink does not smudge onto any other symbols. Finally, the folded ballot papers must be dropped into the designated transparent ballot boxes, and the voter should leave the center promptly.
