Veteran political leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has officially taken the helm to chair the inaugural session of the 13th parliament. This historic opening sitting marks a major political milestone for the nation, officially kicking off a brand-new legislative term under the administration of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The decision to place Khandaker Mosharraf in this crucial role was finalized following a series of high-level strategic discussions within the party’s top leadership. While he was ultimately selected as the primary choice to guide the house through its first day, internal sources previously indicated that a contingency plan was in place. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was fully prepared to step in and preside over the inaugural proceedings as an alternative had Mosharraf been unable to fulfill the duty.
